Our Advisory board gathers business and State leaders who have been key contributors to India's growth story since the early 90s' as well as 'India enthusiasts' from the European business and financial sphere.

Colette Mathur

Colette Mathur has played a role in India’s economic development. For over 20 years, she encouraged the international business community not only to investigate investment possibilities in India but also to work closely with the Government of India and civil society to advance economic and social reforms. She brought together Indian and international entrepreneurs to share expertise, ideas and networks. Many of India’s leaders regard these multi-stakeholder exchanges as a key driver to India’s place in the economic and business world today.

She joined the European Management Forum in 1979 (later to become the World Economic Forum) bringing with her a deep, authentic understanding and sympathy for developing countries. As a member of the Executive Board and a Director, Colette was initially responsible for media content and relations, Europe and public affairs. Gradually her passion for India led her to enlarge the Forum’s activities to include Asia and she formally took regional responsibility from 1982 to 2000. From 2000, Colette gradually reduced her responsibilities with the World Economic Forum whilst retaining responsibility for the Indian Economic Summit which she had launched and run since 1982. As its Senior Advisor for India and South Asia, Colette retired from the World Economic Forum at the end of 2007.

In 2003 she joined the EuroIndia Centre as a Board member and became Co-President in 2006. Based in France, the EuroIndia Centre was founded by Dr. Manmohan Singh and the late Raymond Barre, the former French Prime Minister. The Centre’s mission is to recreate and reinforce links between India and Europe in terms of culture, arts, business and civil society.

Colette Mathur is also President of India Invest S.A. a consulting company helping European enterprises establish activities in India. She is Vice-President of the Geneva-Asia Society. She is actively involved in charitable causes and is the co-editor of a book entitled India Rising – the Emergence of a New World Power published in 2005. Colette Mathur’s lifelong commitment to India’s economic development was given recognition by the Government of India in 2008, which awarded her with the Padma Shree for Public Affairs
